How to be analytical of oneself

Every year gone by, every event gone by, every incident gone by - shares a knowledge that is useful. Provided, we are taking cognizance of it and derive an analysis.

As we are in the last month of year 2025, let's take this example.

1. What are the happenings last year?

List out the happy, boring and not so happy moments pertaining to work, family, finances, hobbies, friends and investments. You can add more into the list based on what your life is more about. ex: business, children, travel, relationship, health, exams etc. Compare them earlier years that to clearly remember of. Check why things have gone well and why not in each of the domains. Compare expectations and results. You will find a pattern at some and just an occurrence in some other. If you find a pattern, you could do 2 things. Either understand your limits or learn to do differently if learning is still in your capacity or possibility.

2. List out your patterns or discoveries and internalize them.

Once your patterns are available list them out and internalize. They help you take decisions for the next.

3. Importance of right time

If you have attempted a tourney as a teen for adults, you tend to fail and attempt a tourney with teens as an adult you get disqualified. It may be luck sometimes. One who always attempts something, or the other is not unlucky for ever. Persistence gets the reward if there are improvements in the attempts.

4. Divert and focus.

Divert from those works, hobbies, relationships, businesses where you have no organic rewards and identify and focus where you have them. This needs analysis again. Write down while you analyse and it gives structure to your thoughts. Dont pursue anything for ego. You won't keep it even if you have successful in acquiring. Just because your friends challenged, you clear an interview but don't like to work in that domain, does only wastes your time in long run.

5. Knowing what can't be compromised.

This can mean many things. For example, when was the last time you had a bad mood after meeting a group of friends after you had to bear with their dirty jokes. If this does not make you happy repeatedly take cognizance and avoid altogether. Another in the same lines where you avoid alcohol but forced to drink in a gathering. Find your alternatives. One example for business; For pressure of increasing volume when you dont want to reduce quality, but you are forced to. One more is when you dont want to relocate but lured by a high salary and perk in a job. There are many like these. In the each of them define what cant be compromised for any gain or for something extra. It retains the happiness or helps you to move on without it. Just to repeat again, this self-discovery needs walking down the memory lanes and noting it.

6. Let go - nothing matters after 100 years

Money, relationships, health, looks, status, recognition (achievements): These are things that are relevant always for present tense. It becomes irrelevant how much you had in the past. It always matters what is your current situation in these aspects. So, if you sacrifice world tour in your 20s and 30s and earn money, it is still ok. Being a miss world in 20s and overweight in 50s does not attract consistent compliments.  Millionaire at 20 and broke at 40 is cared by nobody. Always go for sacrificing things that has more reward in future. But if these are timebound, don't live in the past gains. Distance yourself and let go. Letting go is a painful process.

7. Reinvent

Always. It makes your life interesting.

... Now instead of another reframed new year resolution, just take a pen and paper and do a memoir of 2025 and before!!!
