On becoming wise or something

My tryst with management consultants is not new or not rare.
I wish I am.

Businesses invite them, tell everything about the business, pay them hefty money and get back a thought of what would have known, in beautiful jargon and later state 'this was known..old wine in new bottle... only was not too sure of design of new bottle..!

But most of them are good and justify their role..I have always been inspired by few..
Vibhakar, Nehruji, Pratima, Marla.. list is long..

One of them said.. this interesting one.. try.

At every point of life for a while in the surroundings...
  • Stop
  • Observe
  • Think
  • Internalize
become wise ...

May be this one I assume;
  • Observe
  • Think
  • Internalize + Act
become a leader..
or,
  • Stop
  • Observe
  • Think
  • Internalize + Utilize ...
become a successful dealer(businessman)..!!!

man with a dream & life with a purpose

We chase our dreams and be happy when it is realized.
What happens when we dont realize dreams? We are unhappy..
Strangely though.. sometimes we are unhappy on not realizing the dreams.. even having exceeded it!!!

There was a man who had a donkey. He had the donkey for his daily travels and for transporting things. He was always dreaming of owning a bullock cart with two bullocks on it. He fantasized everyday how he would live when he owns the cart. He simulated the bullock cart ride on his donkey and hoped for one day to realize it on his own bullock cart. He could never buy one and days were passing. One day on his way he had to cross a water body and his donkey was good enough to do that. At the same time there was a Noble man with a luxury Tanga trying to cross the same water body. His Tanga was so luxurious that it was not fit to cross the water. The Noble man, desperate to reach his destination offered to exchange the Tanga for the donkey and the deal happened. The man tried a long route with his new possession of Tanga and proceeded further. The Tanga was faster and comfortable. Man proceeded along and stopped by a Governor on the way. Governor wanted an open roof vehicle for a formal city visit. He pledged his car with the man for his Tanga. The deal happened. The Governor's men lost the Tanga after the city visit & man retained his pledged possession. He drove the car further and offered transport to few people for some money for the fuel. He saved few money and went on to buy more cars for hire and became rich. ...
and one day someone asked him.. what was his unrealized dream..!
...He regretfully expressed his dream to own that bullock cart & to try those riding skills that he fantasized with his donkey..!!!!!

Life without a purpose and life without dreams couldn't be exciting.
Sometime we exceed our dreams and live a reality beyond that.
Still...if didn't dream them... it is that 'bullock cart' that lingers on ..!

Disclaimers & making best of the business

"insurance is the subject matter of solicitation"
"Mutual funds are subject to market risks. Please read the offer document before investing"
"Smoking is injurious to health"

Noticed the above disclaimers.? Yes.. you we did..
Did we think about it..? No we didn't
Reason: All the above are the disclaimers belonging to industries running with roaring businesses!! And they are not just businesses but a phenomena passed the test of time..

Disclaimers hedge the business against the risk of non-disclosure.
How does the customer hedge the risk? A rationale, analysis, thoughtfulness, reason and a limit - all before going for any of the above...! Else learn the lesson a hard way.. like any one of these....
......an insurer with rejected claims
.......an investor with dud fund units
......a smoking addict ..

(with strictly tongue in the cheek.. going for every Jeevan Surabhi, Jeevan this,..Jevan that... blindly ...)

Another Commercial catchy slogan

Not really a Cricket fan though I couldn't escape the Worldcup mania. Especially the last two matches. Betting bookies or match fixing a million dollar game (literally) was so exciting to pump some adrenaline!! Hey this game is making a billion people tele-addicts & lazy in the mean time blesses with exponential hike in the bank balances for a privileged few..!!

Since I have a special interest in the commercials I do a keen observation of theme than the product they endorse! This one is Nike this time. JUST DO IT..
... Isn't it so these words are indicative of some attitude..
...They are helping building one..
...or they are snobbish to proclaim for those who have that attitude
...Make your decision, take your actions.. Just do it..
...Damn care what may happen...just do it...
...Spend less time thinking, worrying, analyzing.. Just do it..
... May be an elderly generation frowns that it is so ..careless..to Just do it..
....Whatever ..damn.. an intrinsic desire fired to belong.. to the group of those who believed to.... Just do it..

Think like ..the role you play..!!

The conversations between Raikar and myself do take much serious note than usual lighter moments... and often bring to light some fresh discoveries on the issues..
This is one to share with you.. hope it is interesting..!
Someone poses a challenge to a techie on working with the existing capacity of ERP application when the size of business operation multifolds. The spontaneous answer that my techie friend gave instantly from the surface of his mind, as working with the ERP with limiting its operations to priority requirements and enhancing the scalability.
However, later bitten by the same inquisitiveness and to substantiate his stand on the issue he poses the same question to a Project Manager. The quick solution proposed by the PM in the lines of hiring a bunch of resources for managing the operations over and above the capacity that ERP may support..!!
Really unexpected..!!
Raiker and myself agreed over a conclusion..
we can think like a techie..
we can think like a designer..
we can think like a manager ...
But always on the surface of our minds.. we think like any one of the above roles... that WE play..!!!
So much is ..influence of the role we play..!!!

Latest commercial - Maruti - Punch line

Aren't there times when we think 'gosh! this should have been much closer to basics!!!'

They are quite often for me..! In similar lines there is a latest ad on Maruti Car, in which much advanced features of a space vehicle are highlighted and goes dumb on a question 'kitna deta hai?'

Keeping things simple is so difficult in today's time. Keep a house clutter free.. free of so many consumer electronic goods, free of flashy interior designs, so many options to purchase a single product in super malls, to choose among so many service providers for telephones, broadband, mobile phones, so many channels, D-T-H providers..so many credit cards, debit cards...

Banking is simplified.. banking charges are complicated
Entertainment is abundant...choices are complicated
Families are shrunken...keeping up the relationship is complicated
Friends are many... meeting place is limited to facebook
Investment options are abundant.. tax structure is complicated
Jobs are abundant..performance is complicated
Diseases are the same...treatment is complicated

Especially, the last one is so true...when we go along with a health insurance card to a corporate hospital..!!

India is ahead of the World ..

Did you start guessing..on what India is ahead of the world..! Guessing it right, the population!
But I am not just talking about population, but something related to demographic ethnicity.

The vulnerability in defending the multiple invasions since the rise and falls of various cultures, civilizations and religions gave ways out for the worst. Be it the compromises, politics of obligations, greed, lust, selfishness, revenges or be the greatest values of self sacrifices, self less loyalties, honesty, faithfulness, truth and self respect. Indians have seen them all, done them all, lived them all, Indians have arrived..not one time but each time when there were revolutions..changes..adversities animosities..
Here religions have evolved, risen and fallen.. Values have been respected and same values are disrespected too.. Kings became servants and the servants the Kings..Many kingdoms were built by great causes, miracles and perished by petty politics and greed..Indians have seen merits becoming demerits and vice versa with time..Every generation assumed themselves as modern with their thoughts.. kept changing with time..sometimes bringing back the same old values which were abondened by their immediate previous race.. but practiced by long gone forefathers..
Why it happens only in India ..to the native Indian civilians.. not to chinese, arabs and europeans..? But might happen after few generations away.. The next in the line are Americans and European... very distantly or never so for chinese and arabs..
The reason that I substantiate is the multiple ethinicity with exactly opposite cultural values..!
Every small group of ethnicity with different cultural values tend to differentiate themselves from others ...with self-assumed cultural and intellectual superiority over the rest.. No where else in World could be so diversified religions and culral ethnicity under the same nationality..may be that does not last longer..

The lands of Australia, America and Europe shall see the same impact.. the differences will however exist.. because these lands are attractive for migrants from various parts of the World.. unlike India where invaders made their settlement.. But multiple ethinicity is the reality in the years to come and so do the banes of diversification..the self assumed differentiations leading to descriminations and favouritisms ..and many more enemies of harmony.

Every ugly face of politics, diminishing values and ethnical clashes in India will be the
reality in these lands in the distant future.. They need to see their demographic mix and the resultant impacts of that, from India.. The races that are spared could be Chinese and Arabs..
why so..? Their lands could not host other cultures.. They are not vulnarable for attacks..It is impossible to even think of being an equal race in those lands...!
What do we Indians need..? We badly need a reason to think united..Something more serious than cricket ..something that equally burns each of our hearts in the equal intensities.. at least at this point of time...before it is the time where we call ourselves..the Indians of earstwhile..united Republic of India...!
