Think like ..the role you play..!!

The conversations between Raikar and myself do take much serious note than usual lighter moments... and often bring to light some fresh discoveries on the issues..
This is one to share with you.. hope it is interesting..!
Someone poses a challenge to a techie on working with the existing capacity of ERP application when the size of business operation multifolds. The spontaneous answer that my techie friend gave instantly from the surface of his mind, as working with the ERP with limiting its operations to priority requirements and enhancing the scalability.
However, later bitten by the same inquisitiveness and to substantiate his stand on the issue he poses the same question to a Project Manager. The quick solution proposed by the PM in the lines of hiring a bunch of resources for managing the operations over and above the capacity that ERP may support..!!
Really unexpected..!!
Raiker and myself agreed over a conclusion..
we can think like a techie..
we can think like a designer..
we can think like a manager ...
But always on the surface of our minds.. we think like any one of the above roles... that WE play..!!!
So much is ..influence of the role we play..!!!

Latest commercial - Maruti - Punch line

Aren't there times when we think 'gosh! this should have been much closer to basics!!!'

They are quite often for me..! In similar lines there is a latest ad on Maruti Car, in which much advanced features of a space vehicle are highlighted and goes dumb on a question 'kitna deta hai?'

Keeping things simple is so difficult in today's time. Keep a house clutter free.. free of so many consumer electronic goods, free of flashy interior designs, so many options to purchase a single product in super malls, to choose among so many service providers for telephones, broadband, mobile phones, so many channels, D-T-H providers..so many credit cards, debit cards...

Banking is simplified.. banking charges are complicated
Entertainment is abundant...choices are complicated
Families are shrunken...keeping up the relationship is complicated
Friends are many... meeting place is limited to facebook
Investment options are abundant.. tax structure is complicated
Jobs are abundant..performance is complicated
Diseases are the same...treatment is complicated

Especially, the last one is so true...when we go along with a health insurance card to a corporate hospital..!!

India is ahead of the World ..

Did you start guessing..on what India is ahead of the world..! Guessing it right, the population!
But I am not just talking about population, but something related to demographic ethnicity.

The vulnerability in defending the multiple invasions since the rise and falls of various cultures, civilizations and religions gave ways out for the worst. Be it the compromises, politics of obligations, greed, lust, selfishness, revenges or be the greatest values of self sacrifices, self less loyalties, honesty, faithfulness, truth and self respect. Indians have seen them all, done them all, lived them all, Indians have arrived..not one time but each time when there were revolutions..changes..adversities animosities..
Here religions have evolved, risen and fallen.. Values have been respected and same values are disrespected too.. Kings became servants and the servants the Kings..Many kingdoms were built by great causes, miracles and perished by petty politics and greed..Indians have seen merits becoming demerits and vice versa with time..Every generation assumed themselves as modern with their thoughts.. kept changing with time..sometimes bringing back the same old values which were abondened by their immediate previous race.. but practiced by long gone forefathers..
Why it happens only in India ..to the native Indian civilians.. not to chinese, arabs and europeans..? But might happen after few generations away.. The next in the line are Americans and European... very distantly or never so for chinese and arabs..
The reason that I substantiate is the multiple ethinicity with exactly opposite cultural values..!
Every small group of ethnicity with different cultural values tend to differentiate themselves from others ...with self-assumed cultural and intellectual superiority over the rest.. No where else in World could be so diversified religions and culral ethnicity under the same nationality..may be that does not last longer..

The lands of Australia, America and Europe shall see the same impact.. the differences will however exist.. because these lands are attractive for migrants from various parts of the World.. unlike India where invaders made their settlement.. But multiple ethinicity is the reality in the years to come and so do the banes of diversification..the self assumed differentiations leading to descriminations and favouritisms ..and many more enemies of harmony.

Every ugly face of politics, diminishing values and ethnical clashes in India will be the
reality in these lands in the distant future.. They need to see their demographic mix and the resultant impacts of that, from India.. The races that are spared could be Chinese and Arabs..
why so..? Their lands could not host other cultures.. They are not vulnarable for attacks..It is impossible to even think of being an equal race in those lands...!
What do we Indians need..? We badly need a reason to think united..Something more serious than cricket ..something that equally burns each of our hearts in the equal intensities.. at least at this point of time...before it is the time where we call ourselves..the Indians of earstwhile..united Republic of India...!

On Rationality

The factors associated with rationality;
Facts; Seen and experienced and verified
Beliefs; Heard, felt, imagined
Perceptions; Seen, experienced, verified, imagined and resultant individual /collective understandings/opinions

It can be debated if the subject of rationality is normative or empirical. The experimentation on a subject with careful observation of various test results together provide an understanding. More or less the practicality of a subjects is what generally understood as rational.
Rational thinking is a good practice and it streamlines thoughts. The calm, unbiased, neutral and detached mindset is more likely to be rational than otherwise.
We don't consciously think rational. Based on the experience and outlook towards various things, we tend to gather the information (facts), add little of beliefs and perceive on the degree of inclination towards any of these. When we consciously initiate our sequence of thought process intending to be rational, become more fact oriented and the practice goes on. It is like cookies in our computers, which by default provides the earlier downloaded information..!!
The argument of a rational thinking, which should be an ultimate fact based philosophy,
is quite paradoxical when we try to put that into an empirical study..!! Because logically we
do not prove a fact as a fact but either prove or disprove a belief!!!
There is an example like this;
If A=B then prove that A+A=2B
Here A=B is a belief. A+A=2B is the experimentation logic. If we could prove that A+A=2B, then we justify this belief. Else, we the basic belief is incorrect. In either way, the logic tend to
test a belief, based on a readily proved belief which is in this case our understanding of A+A=2B..!!

In real life, the rational thinking does not have the advantage of logical sequences of mathematics problems..!! In either way there needs to be many empirical test results of general knowledge and experiences to add sequences to our thought process..!!! But life experiences and general knowledge are subject to exceptions. Therefore a rational thinking may be proved irrational in terms of exceptional situations.
I mention a very thought provoking statement by a German colleagues of mine, at my earlier
employer. We drove on a busy MG road and he was seated next to me, trying hard to pull up the window!! It easilly moved up half and stuck in between..! After a series of struggle, he simply turned the handle in the opposite direction, and.. voila.. glass window went up..!! I did not understand how it worked and I asked him if he tried some logic...he quickly reverted..'logic works accidentally' ....

It is an absolute world!!

I am apprehensive what my readers think about this blog..! But this could be truth/not if some one take a challenge to test the result..! Wish you good reading..!
Om purnamadah purnamidam purnat purnam utjate
Purnasya purnamadaya purnameva Avashijyate..!
The universe is complete and absolute and everything is derived from this universe, by deriving out of this universe and becomes part of this universe and returns to the oneness of this universe!!!

The formation of earthly objects, development of life, changes of fundamental elements and infinite space do keep changing by deriving from one another, being part of one another and ultimately going back to form the 'one' that is universe..!!How similar even the man(animal kind too) kind..!! We are formed out of life by changing the rest of mankind and other lives, derive from the other life and among us, we change the rest of the life and ourselves..and finally we form the differently appearing similar 'us' before losing ourselves..!!! It simply means that a law of nature can be applicable to all its objects in an unconditional way.
Here is another philosophy that supports (from Mahabharath);
" What you find here is every where and you find everything here;
What you dont find here, you dont find any where"
What we may derive from the above is that every thing exists in multiples either at same time or at different times. Therefore, there is no 'unique' being without considering the time factor..!!Unique is God; as in "om tat sat". That means the trait of absolute"sath" is God. But the trait of "sath" can be multiple in smaller, not-absolute, multiple forms. Just an example which I derive out of my readings; The truth or philosophy or scientific arguements or thoughts are not unique from one person. When different individuals think of the same thing in the similar wavelenths, the same understandings or results formed simultaneously at both ends! I have read of examples of similar scientific inventions at same times in different parts of the world, similar philosophies preached and documented by different religions/thinkers at the same time in different languages and geographically different locations etc. If we explore we might find more examples. May be thoughts can communicate themselves and they unify at some unknown frequencies, if they are in similar lines..!! Needless be positive or the correct ones. Incorrect too. But the coherence of evolution do exist.

The 'motion' leads to 'change' which leads to awareness of 'time'. If there is no'motion', no 'change' and no 'time'. In this universe, the objects rotate in their orbits and circumvent the bigger objects, thereby creating 'change' of themselves and 'change' of rest. ex; Life on earth.

The evolution of life is due to the movement of earth in its object. Therefore it is always subject to 'change' and 'time'. When the universe is an ocean of moving objects, what is the purpose of this movement? What do they collectively circumvent? Is it eternal stillness where the time is zero? Is it God? Being the part of entire set of moving objects, can we calm that down a bit with sending the messages of slowing down? Stopping the 'change'?
Is that why they pray "om shantih shantih shantih"?

The nitty-gritty of personal finances

A fund manager's job is difficult and it is subjected criticism.Be it the fund of self or others, fund management relies on facts of today and assumptions of tomorrow! One can be sure of facts today but not so sure of one's assumptions of tomorrow..!! So critical that is..over the years the fund owner keeps doing.. what if ..analysis!! So does the fund manager..!! After all no one wants one's work resulting unfruitful.

As they say not to put all the eggs in one basket, the diversification is the fundamental factor in investment dynamics. That holds good universally at all times. How do we select our baskets, right? i.e .. right number of eggs in right basket..?

In a developing economy with vast demographics, the earning graph of any normal small investor should be 15%-25% nett after taxes, cumulative from all baskets, in the long term. These are most realistic figures, given the time frame of earning life (25 years). The normal 30% on risk (equities), 20% on assured (debentures, govt security bonds),10% short term deposits (bank FDs), 30% on real estate and 10% ventures (business, movable assets, high risk factors) for a normal risk - return balance.
As my observation goes, the commitment to various smaller set of regular investment options is better than building one big corpus. It is a forcible saving option as well. It can avoid the risk of unwanted spending (uncalculated investment) out of excess liquidity.
Fund management needs to be a desciplined activity. The regular review of investments and being self critical about the earlier decisions do help to improve. The personal overdraft facilities like credit cards or instant loans are lucrative but drain out the valuable hard earned money in a short while. The credit cards should not be used for purchases with payout as installment option. That proves costly. The credit card is a best way of payment which requires larger liquid cash at one go which can be settled with the 100% payment instantly by diverting liquid cash from other sources, ideally interest free 24days!!
The loan contributes to the good return and it is good means of exploiting an assured opportunity. The loan enhances the returns when it is availed to invest in revenue earning opportunity, to invest in appreciating asset, long term benefit (monetory or otherwise) where the estimated assurance of returns is more than interest payout within the estimated time. Real estate, Gold, business, education etc. The loan availed for wedding/parties, holidays, automobiles (for luxury purpose), luxuries are do not result in appreciation. They are expenditures that fulfil personal desires without monetory gain. The loan on expenditures should be restricted to 20% of the entire debt and should have a clearence cycle of 2-3 years (short term) or less (as per the life on what ever that is spent). It shouldn't be the case where an overseas vacation expenses are paid by EMI beyond 2 years where the exciting memories of holiday get fresh only with those pictures..!

I find that it is very important for each person to have a finacial dream..!! I.e to dream of having certain sum of money/networth, to dream of acquirigng an immovable asset, to have a good number of valuables and so on...! A repeated thought of such desire passively brings a descipline to attain that dream over a period of time!!

Lastly, try to go in detail with your assets to find if there is any idle asset and utilize that to bring some revenue, either big or small.! If nothing at all...check if you have some idle time with you that could add some numbers into your bank balance or increase a worth into the capitals over years..!! I bet everyone has this one.. for sure..!

The cost of independence

I suppress my real self from my blog, just for being non-controversial, not so judgemental and not being ignorantly opinionated. There is a latent fear or discomfort for being disliked in person instead for the words, hated personally in place of expressions or just to keep some part of persona an enigma! Often, the disagreement with opinion ends up with disagreement for the person's self in general!

The cost of independence to India are many lives of those extremist freedom fighters and the awareness and spirits of moderate freedom movement participants (I can't call them fighters as they never did it for independence!).

But their efforts gave an independent state with huge amount of money and military to a set of people (You know..who). This is a biggest loss on negotiation however honest the efforts and struggle for freedom! The heart rendering loss of lives of a set of people ended up in providing an independent state to another who never shared the same frequency in terms of values, spirits and unity.

The slogans of unity in diversity are brain wash to broad minded ones, the so called 'secular' statements may never convince an insecure, but win elections, at the end of the day be realistic and don't die for a country with diversity! You and your life is lost in the history of 1 day's airtime of 24/7 news channels and some pre-scripted condolence message by a local/national politician, which doesn't replenish the happiness of your family not set a martyr's due to be settled by coming generations! It just goes a worthless life!

Being patriotic should also mean being realistic in terms of our thoughts and actions. We need to keep our values alive, up keep the right against wrong, the merit against evil and solidarity against hypocrisy and let the generations move on! After all revolutions repeat, history repeats.. some times bringing good in place of evil..

The 'fundamentals' of decision making

I am part of the team of maintenance and support of a the data warehouse of a wholesale -MNC.
My role as a PM-O from IT back office companies earlier had little scope with data warehousing as the FTE and HC equations with 'billable' and 'non-billable' calculations however ended up with revenue based on them! The normative contract documents like Project Brief Documents, Project Proposal Agreements and SLAs had their terms dictating the interim revenue in flows of the company. The standard project tracking tools and WBS analysis, time tracking, resource assignment and utilization rate play the crucial part in efficient planning of service - revenue trade off!!
A dashboard for top-management depends upon various sources of data/tools and external industry statistics or benchmarks provided by the consulting companies. In IT companies, the MIS customers are normally top management and rarely the middle level managers.

It works differently in the retail industry. The Business Intelligence customers range from executives in merchandising departments to operators in stores, customer development field executives and up to the top decision makers!!! The data analyst's role is limited to retrieving the data that is asked for, in the form of either ad-hoc or periodical, in the range of estimation of data sample size, method of retrieving data, application used for processing (basically excel/access), presentation (excel, ppt dashboard, pdf) and accuracy verification & traffic light indications. This is normally top-down approach where the managers' request for data is provided for. The value addition for data analyst's role lies in terms of providing decision KPIs on observation of vast, unprocessed data and mining the data and discovering a pattern or a trend.!!
The processed data is called 'information'. The ouput provided by data analyst becomes valuable information for decision making. The data analysis in retail industry is more dynamic, with often unpredicted patterns, seasonal steady behaviours, consumer behaviours and it is sensitive to external environments and surprises. This is a highly skilled job that requires good knowledge of business processes and decision impacts.!! Some of the steady patterns are susceptible to the methodologies of advanced statistical models. However, restricting the analysis to either micro data set or macro data set; single KPIs or KPIs from single source of data could have risk of resulting into 'blind folded' business strategies/decisions.
The scope for data mining is provided by large Data Warehouses, known for robustness and scalability!! They are normally combination of DWH with a Business Intelligence platform for access by data analysts. The data analysis is predicted as the next big outsourcing opportunity to be transferred to India and other developing countries ( Despite the risk of data security!). The ERP major SAP has already indicated their focus on Business Intelligence solutions as next big thing. After all our tomorrows are the results of what we have done today based on the directions derived by what happened yesterday!!! Makes sense..eh?

Powers of visual thinking

The title goes with little meaning for me than just as 'day dreaming'..!! So don't go by the heading..!!
Thinking with visualization is more powerful and effective due to the sense of vision in it. It is similar to foreseeing ours' and opponents' various possible moves in the game of Chess! We are experiencing the game already once in the mind before actually playing it. Good isn't it?
In my opinion, any activity that involves unknown change should be preceded by simulation of that with a visual thinking. It is a laboratory for idea generation. I shall soon come up with examples..

An idea can change your life (in Bangalore!!)

What could be one big changed experience, that a Bangalorean wish for?
More gardens ? Cauvery water to every house? Pollution and dust free air?
More than these, it is traffic.
The roads in Bangalore are mostly 80Feet and some are 100 feet. The flat landscape makes the drive a good experience in Bangalore if the roads are empty. Most of the busy roads have congested because of the vehicles parked on the sides of the road and bus commuters waiting for the BMTC on the road and each road having one such bus stop for every half a kilometer.
Within the city we have highest number of intersections and traffic signals. Sometimes, it is one intersection or a cross road for every 100 meters within the city..!!! Most of the times a drivers' (riders') challenge is to wait at every such signals for 3 minutes for the green signals and it takes a limping pain and a saint's perseverance to cross a short distance of 3 kilometers.
An idea of synchronising the traffic signals of entire city could result in a changed experience which I mentioned above, for every Bangalorean..!!
  • Identification of every traffic signals
  • number of intersections on the busy roads
  • number of vehicles per minute on the road,
  • direction mapping to joints to major roads, sector basis
  • Synchronisation of traffic signals to the assigned directions based on the above aspects!! (All green lights at all signals to one direction in the entire stretch of the road at the same time and vice versa based on the directions and major connections)

This might require the pedestrians to be little cautious than now, but will ease the travel time, travel experience for drivers and riders substantially. We can't teach ourselves a road discipline, but can we learn that from digitally controlled, changed traffic lights ???.. A food for thought for our elected representatives..& IT companies and all of us??

Law of diminishing marginal utility & anuual increments

There was an era in a typical city like Bangalore where a job in a nationalised bank or a handful of PSUs (BEML, BHEL, HAL, NAL) were attractive for a fresh graduate or a post graduate with a MSC or MCOM (IT, BT, ITES and MBAs were not existing..!). A predefined scale and a career graph of an increment in 3 years and promotion in 5 years was just more like a biological calender for an employee where learning or performence where terms in least use as much as years of service..!! An employee's life used to go on in between with the joy of family and friends, celebrating festivals with colleagues, attending the naming ceremonies and so on..!
Today, we have bunch of job sites and every street in Bangalore having a head hunters office, with twice a year appraisal and pay review (only upward) and promotions in six months of experience offered by the companies, learning curves, performence reviews, number games and strategy games..with a 100% hike for a skip into another company..! The virtual meeting place of social network sites and cafeterias to discuss the share market and real estate and foreign holidays and wife/husband on line with click of a button on the mobile..are general routine for a new age worker.!
It is an apt diminishing utility in terms of employees monetory/job satisfaction while analysing the latest work conditions and job markets. Every payment of blanket increments, bonus variables, mid term compensation reviews, cash rewards on shorter instances witness a diminishing utility on the level of commitment and/or fulfilment.
Call it greed or short-lived wave of outsourcing job works..the law perfectly holds good.!

The probability theory, cause & effect & existence

If we say that universe is infinite..and in such a universe an average sized star called sun has few planets under its gravity...what we call solar system..has an ideal distance with one of the planet called Earth to constitute the evolution of life in it, then..is it not a high probability, a random event? Ever since the pure science has developed as a stream of subject, a body of knowledge, scientists have assumed the probability of other planets with similar stage of life in them. Considering the infinite size of universe and infinite number of stars it can not be ruled out. But only one assurance it is not known yet..! The evolution of life on earth is a perfect phenomena! At least I call so. What if the distance between Sun & Earth is few hundred thousand kilometers more or less than 92 million miles..? But it..just is not..! ..It is a perfect distance..! If a random event like this, is a perfect condition for another event like development of life..then, why we call this world as imperfect..? So perfection, naturally can also be a random event and need not a rational one..! The change of seasons, rain, sunshine, breeze, oceans, snowpeaks, mountains, rivers are the results of a perfect phenomena, each caused by one another.
If life has began with unicellular organisms and developed into various stages of evolution, mankind is now known last stage in the chain! ..So what is next..? (We do not yet have a completely convincing theory on evolution of the first unicellular being..!)
So development as an effect has the cause of a perfect condition preceding it.!. If mankind has to develop to any thing called a next stage..is it a perfect condition? I say it is not. A perfect condition is made imperfect with rationality of mankind. The environmental effect. Then imperfection can not cause a development, instead a development in the negative side..!? ..
..Now tell me ..has this arguement seen a logical sequence..!? If yes.. then ..existence is due to the perfection..extinction is due to the imperfection.. ! Perfection and imperfection can both be natural or rational..But the impacts are different..isn't it..?

Biddu music

I was in 1st standard when I first listened to the famous composition by Biddu for the film Qurbani (Aap jaisa koi mere zindgi me aaye..!) It made me freeze and I was longing to listen more of that! Music or art, since they touch our senses their fanfare go beyond cultures or nationality..or age!
His compositions have been my favourits, be it disco diwane, made in India or boom.! Biddu's journey into success of being a composer is as fascinating as his retro disco numbers.
I often hit the youtube to get the glimpse of my favourit numbers (more often I feel its piracy..!) and without fail the ever green ones..!
I just didn't stop at those Nazia Hassan melodies composed by Biddu, I happened to watch his interview in local news channel TV9. His candid, spontaneous and open answers to the interviewer's questions were as interesting as his music. It felt no superficial while he expressed his fondess for being Indian ... surprisingly for a legend who left the country in search of realising his dreams at early age!!! His straight talks about money, bollywood, carefully not being 'inspired' by other composers' music, being unfazed by madness created by his music, being dead by few years down the line.. just made me wonder if ..only we call carefully chosen words that are exchanged, are called interviews or this kind of real ones..!? Only a multi-talented artist like Biddu ..dare express the real self..!
Re-inventing one self is what we can learn from his life..! A Columbus for his own dreams.. left the country to chase his dreams..achieved fame as international music composer.. created ever-lasting music numbers...starts afresh as a writer of a novel..!
I look forward to read his autobiography..Made in India..! sooner or later.

The Art of Execution

An idea or strategy may originate from one brain or bunch of them. The execution requires many hands and brains and often combination of both. When I was working as an executive in a company, I displayed a quotation "action is more important than idea" on my desk. I had so much of priority on the sequence of activities, tasks that were needed to be carried out to get that one idea came from management. In the process, I had ignored the existence of a number of smaller ideas that are laid down to get the best of each individual task.
A whole is sum of parts and each part is important. The ideas become 'great ideas' after they conclude with magical results.
-What are the tasks?
-Are there better, easier, time efficient alternatives to these tasks?
-Very importantly, don't forget 'any' task.

The 'being', 'nirguna' in the infinite hallowness

The Hindu philosophy explains God as the 'nirguna' (detached from being good or evil). This equanimity is difficult achieve for common in the daily life. The normal inclination is to the coherent values or convenience of the situation from either of the two.
These traits exhibit their full power in alternatives and go subdued like a cyclical process. I believed this as the nearest explanation to the 'trait of God' since my teenage, which strengthened after I read about 'Yin and Yang' philosophy of ancient China. Every Yin has Yang in it and Yang has some Yin and both co exist in the different intensities with an equal amount of the other at their alternative cycles !!! The law of traits has not been explained like this..(picturized!!) in any other culture, the way this one (to so far my reading goes)..!!

Does that mean the traits are of two types? Traits are 'no traits' but intertwined, concurrently existing, void of one another!!! Identify the Yin and Yang in every thing..and what an equilibrium.. that is..!

The next big - small thing in IT services

The product placement in IT industry is quite a difficult job until the significant, right kind of market is captured. After the successful product placement, the next stages of operations and revenue generations are considerably easier for the company. The enhancements follow with each release every year or twice a year with value addition on the product or bug fixing activities. Some of the IT companies focus on development and enhancement of the product and outsource the placement and implementation.
The nature of IT products are so dynamic that the client will have to decide on the life cycle of the product, which is relatively short. The ROI could not be decided as the write off period is short . The changes in the technology are very fast and the source companies stop the support after certain period and innovate on new product development. This is necessary strategy for revenue management as well as the market/technology dynamics due to long gestation period and short span for ROI.
Now let us think of a client who has invested in the product and tends to write off the cost of product after long term, where the target IT expenditure (inclusive of both IT infrastructure and application) is 1.5% - 2% of their total budget. Write off at a short term is costly affair for small companies.
This opens a fairly greater chance of IT application support businesses to extend the service on AMCs for small and medium companies which can sustain the product even after the product life cycle is completed. These IT companies can negotiate with the product provider for the source code, technology copy write, know how and work on a service contract for small and medium enterprises as a mutually beneficial model. This is an area where large service providers could not sustain either with the services or capture the same market for their latest releases.
As more and more businesses going increasingly IT oriented, there will be largely untapped opportunities await the service providers.

CSR & Business with principles & dignity of employee

A masseuse with 19 years of service at Hotel ITC Windsor came up in media on
her helplessness in being forced by management to do something that is not part of her job, something that is against the her will and conscience & value.
Thanks to the years of experience in the corporate atmosphere, she came up with all the proof of her escalations, giving no chance for benefit of doubt to the management's likely claim of cooked up stories.

Recently we hear so much about the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives of MNCs and big corporate entities. These are not charity activities. Every CSR move by the company has a long term goodwill development motive or an indirect or remote proximity to the area of company's business or an expected, desired change in the society that involves the customer or employees or any of its stakeholders.

Is CSR necessary ? Instead, can businesses run with some principles? Many MNCs do. ex: Infosys, MCC and many other. They keep compliance & business ethics rules in place and spend much of training man hours on training on the same. They take top priority service attention to legal requirement if that demands.
The adherence to the well laid business principles of the companies indicate their responsibility to the society and not only the CSR activities. This promotes a feel good factor with the stakeholders and society. Is it in the capacities of this kind of companies to spread their way of business to others? Why not? Say, by not availing the services of such businesses (like ITC in this case) that are insensitive to the dignity of a loyal employee of 19 years..? A small and no-compromise principles like these spread a large amount of change in the society and good will. After all it could be another side of a capitalist who cares for the society. The organisation that operates in multi-environment is reality. Isn't the 'social environment' a vital one? A small principle..and big positive change to society..?

Companies are not quarantined entities right?..

The people who live my dreams..!

A fortune 500 multinational, American Company with world wide presence..Pepsico Incorporated..! What takes to be the chairman and CEO of a company like this at the age of 43.! We should ask that to Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi..!
The right qualification? relevant experience? opportunities? luck? learn-ability?
There could have been dozen dozens of candidates awaiting with eligibility.! It takes the guts, will power, people management skills, diplomacy, alertness, knowledge, decision making skills and market sensibility, hard work, innovation, to know how to play the cards well in the game of strategy and more than any thing, it is the perpetual success in proving the net worth of self and that of the decision taken by self.. to grow in an organisation beyond gender, ethnicity, nationality and the like...!
There should be something very special about a person with disadvantages more than the advantages, to reach the infinity! The subtle diplomatic cold wars in proving the other person wrong on the centers of board rooms and corners of cozy restaurants, the differentiations of public and private equations and networking with the 'right' and 'the not so right' kind of 'important' and the imporatant persons, to have the trust of great number of 'weighted' fellow beings in the corporate jungle.. and to rise like a phoenix after being torn into ashes after innumerable corporate battles..with no God father, legacy, back ground, wealth or power..! An enigma...with the speed of thought ...

Even to dream this growth in the corporate career takes a courage..! I have a belief that, those who displayed a courage and attained a good success in building the corporations could not have made it to substantial level in the corporations built by others..! The Narayana Murthy, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Azim Premji..and many others who built those largest corporations in their industry; Could they have convinced the rest and attained to top in the organisations built by others? ... Definitely not all of them..
... The people who live others dream are not alone as special as Indra Nooyi; but they are special, with the way they lead their life differently and made the mark of themselves..!
Raise a toast, take a bow and standing ovation in the name of those achievers!!
Let there be inspiration..!

The values evaluated, under valued, over valued

Alexander ...became the Alexander the great.. by having a series of killings behind.., so did ChandraGupta Maurya, Ashoka....list goes ..on. They valued their ambition. It was a power hungry battle for survival, a desperate situation invited out of greed.."I kill or else I get killed" ... an insecurity ..invited by that first step taken, with choice or lack of it..gone too far...!
The history is full of the stories, within everything has a clash of values between the two entities. As they say the 'history repeats' so do the the clash of values..!
The values those last and the values faded over time and the values those are intrinsic, the values that are not practiced by self but expected in others..! All of them.
The dying man normally never lies..! If that is true, why did he, earlier?
Why the human beings get back to the great values at the end of their life? or at the end of a ending event? Why the values are an 'understatement' and not active phrases?
When I was a school kid, I remember we had to write a note on 'one good work a day' that we have done. As adult can I practice ' one value a day' ? What difference that could make on my life? I found that the value I tried to nurture, consciously practiced..was growing in my personality ...as a natural form..! It was a good feeling..! Somewhere, to practice some principles is like value addition to a product, being known for something..!
Self branding..with practice of principles...!
Now let us check... what are we known for..?

The Cosmic

We live in the 3 dimensional world !! We love to possess all those tangible (length, breadth, height) material things, virtually tangible (name & fame) tags and every thing of Maslow's Need Hierarchy!!
But apart from the 3 D and Non-3 D things, I am aware of some thing that exists, which I call "energy". God has endowed me with a special skill to identify that and I could even differentiate among them some thing called "good energy" and "bad energy"!!!
.. No ..don't be skeptical and discard this as a goof up, crap.!! If you feels so.. don't read further..! Else, read it with an open mind that this is some one's 'experience' and not 'opinion'..!!
The bizarre feelings, the strokes in the heart and somewhere within a mild sensation, eerie ...are those experiences at an energy zone I call as 'bad'
The brightness, the breeze, the kind darkness, delight and an added power within ,, are those experiences at a 'good energy' zone..
These are no subjective feelings of a presupposed mind..! It is an experience of a mind with blank thought and a consciousness open to the reactions of zones into the self-being..! Therefore these interpretations..!!
The nature talks to us in some ways..! Probably, the above is one of them..!
Or at least I believe so..!! The outcome? benefit? ...Nothing..!! May well be developed into '6th" sense!?? What rubbish!? Did you say so? then...

Common sense is for daily life.. 6th sense is for the future..!
Now tell me, could you ignore..!?..

An encounter with EVIL MERIT

Surprised on finding two words together, "evil" and "merit"..!!?
Yes.. that is no mistake. When an evil or malicious entity endowed with any kind of power, superiority, ability or any virtue by which an edge over the rest could be established..is the one..'evil merit'..!
A person, a country, a company, a product.. can be an example.. a wrong person with highest authority, a country with destructive ideologies having International support and nuclear weapons, a company which sells a popular product having harmful raw materials, a teacher with good teaching skills along with biases etc, a skillful surgeon with greed..many more..
An encounter with evil merit is a complicated and tedious situation to deal with. The malicious intentions collide with the good values which by themselves can not succeed over..!
The mythological stories have many examples for evil=merit combinations and Gods' face them and defeat with some tactics. Lord Ram and Baali, Krishna and Kauravas, Godess and deamon, Mohini and Bhasmasur...!!!
It is no easy game to get over with evil-merit. It gives the testing time for the surroundings. It is a longer, painful and time consuming battle. The evil-merit is fought with the right time /right situation by right entity..!
....Keep the fight on..or ignore if possible..But evil-merit is here to stay..!! Find most of evil-merit in our elected politicians and civil workers/bureaucrats!!

Racist agonies

The reporter of a famous news channel CNN IBN shouting at high decibel on the murder of an Indian student in Australia...there goes another solid material for the news channels to spend some airtime!!
I don't get judgemental on this incident that is..a crime to be condemned..
However.. we could bring a large change to ourselves by just following few things at places across our National borders..
1. Not staring: A straight observation of someone is considered 'rude' as it is denying his/her privacy
2. Mannerisms: Ask for things, sorry, thanks, polite,no trespassing queues, not talking loud in public/phone, respect time, not littering etc
3. Respect law of the soil, mind public behaviour, take care for public property
4. As much as possible avoid talking to strangers, not being at wrong place @ wrong time and avoid talking that may provoke some argument/hurt feelings/induce a bias etc..
Think of ..a typical rich, spoilt, arrogant student with a management quota seat (!) who throughs up tantrums and group ism at local campuses may well get away with any thing here...but elsewhere ?...
Think of ... any one who becomes a victim of the prejudices created by someone like above ?..
Or ..is it just an insecurity or risk that any one of us carry when we travel at outlandish locations ?..
...What holds good any day any where is that..well behaved..well received..Isn't it?
